Hey just wondering what the best Plecostomus was for a 55 gallon cichlid tank with a ph of 8.2

I dont know about all those plecos but on relly cool plecos iv seen in a high ph tank are royal pleco they dont get to big for the small tank u have

Commons get way too big for a 55g... something in the 18'' range... 55g's are only 12'' wide.

Got Pleco?

I do, he's 8.5 inches (sailfin - common?) long and I never knew they got so big when I bought him!!

He's way too big for my 29G tank. I should bring him back to the store, but I'm trying to place him in a good home first... ANYONE INTERESTED? :shark:

Oh yeah, This is the second one I've had (the other one is already placed with a friend, but he didn't want both), and I liked them both (if only they'd stay smaller), when they were in the tank together they took turns chasing each other in and out of the "desirable" location of the day, be it under the driftwood, or in the cave. They get very territorial.

Sailfins are also beautiful when they do that "hover thing" and their fins are all working at once.

Get a few bushynoses, the albino version is also very appealing and they get a fraction of the size of commons.

:OT: Yeah, I've had people show interest, but I don't think shipping him is a viable option. Ideally a local aquarist would be best...
