I have a african cichlid tank and I am looking for a new submersible return pump from my sump I have had the Rio and they are not so good. everytime i do a water change when i try to plug the pump back on it rarely works on the first try so i have to bang it around a few times and then it starts I dont want to take a chance of being out of town and having a power outage and then when the power comes back on the pump wont turn back on. So I was hoping that you guys could let me know the best company to make a SUBMERSIBLE pump for me. I will be looking for 600-800 gph at a 6ft head thanks in advance!!

i buy all mine new on ebay most are catalina brand and they work perfect and never had a restarting issue. there is a guy who sells them for 33.25 free shipping on ebay i buy all mine from him.

i checked it out but the one he has online is not strong enough i read on the catalina website that it only does about 400gph at a 6ft head but thanks for some direction

I use the Danner Supreme Mag drive pumps (MD5 and MD9.5) and never had an issue with one. I haven't had good luck with Tamm Rio.

I bought a Mag and exchanged it with a Maxi-Jet. With a Maxi-Jet, you can adjust the flow rate.

thanks for all the input guys looks like the mag is the way to go more expensive then the rio hf but worth it and if needed i will just put a ball valve on it to control the flow rate thanks again for all the help and info
