I'm selling all my master/single test kits that I've acquired with various tank purchases and I want to buy a brand new freshwater master test kit. What's the best brand to get? I was going to get API but wasn't sure if that was the best brand or not.

I received a Red Sea Fresh-Lab kit with my used set-up, but it turned out to be expired, so I bought the API Freshwater Master Kit based on recommendations here in AC. It's excellent. Includes tests for Low pH, High pH, Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates, and it's easier to use than the Fresh Lab. One results color card, very precise instructions, multiple test tubes. Mfg. month and year are printed on all the bottles, so it's relatively easy to figure out if they are expired or not.

I like API master test kit. It came most recommended to me here.

+1 on the API master test kit.

Thanks guys.

If the single test kits are good enough to sell, work well and meet the need, why go through the trouble for a fancy carry-case "Master Kit holder". However if you must I recommend API but must warn you that after the most use bottle is depleted first, youll end up buying single test again anyway.

My personal master test kit is made up of more then the normal amount of bottles to include in the standard Master Kit like GH, KH, O2, Phosphate, and TDS. My point is, I found out that what is marketed and what I really need are two different things sometimes so it is best to consider that before buying a marketed item you may not need.

Incidentally here is where I buy my test kit when and if I need one $17, they will even let you do a store pickup locally with no shipping charge. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Freshwater-Master-Test-Kit-Fish-Aquatic-Pets/3635493

PS the add details is incorrect and this kit is the full master kit with 7 bottles Amm, Nitri, Nitra, PH, ( not gh/kh)
