What's the best way to do this to ensure not harming the plant? I.e rhizome size, should I use scissors, angle the cuts, how many leaves should I leave on each segment, etc.

I have left mine alone for soooo long that it is just a monster of a plant. I'll try to get a pic of it but invision this plant as being a natural wall or tank divider in a 55g aquarium. Definately time to trim this puppy up.

Woo, nice! I'd treat it like anubias - use a razor blade, sharp knife, or maaaaybe scissors. Make clean vertical cuts into sections. Rhizome size will depend on how you want the plant to look (& if you're going to sell/trade, how many pieces you want). I'd think as long as you leave a couple leaves you'll be fine.

Any pics of this monster?

Not as yet. Will try and snap one later today. I think one of the fun parts will be trying to get it out of the tank to trim it. :) May have to move some things around.

I hear that. I was pulling a moss rock out of the aquarium and all my bolbitis decided to hitch a ride.

I just use my thumb nail to pinch it off at the rhizome, leave a few inches of the original or propogated plant.

Didn't make it home in time before the lights went out. Will give er a go tomorrow.

So here it is ... Bolbitis jungle. All in all...it takes up about 1/4 of the tank. Do you think I should split it up?

Wow, gorgeous! It looks pretty light compared to my dark green stuff. I'd say at least split it in half to redistribute into smaller portions, keep half in a big mass because it looks nice. :)

Fishy...what's your lighting like for yours? I'm wondering if I might be a tad on the high side for this. This tank is at just over 2wpg.
