I have a 10 gallon tank in the process of cycling, I eventually plan to divide the tank into two 5 gallon partitions and put two males in it. Now, there is an airstone and whisper filter on one side (http://www.tetra-fish.com/catalog/product.aspx?id=838 which actually looks pretty neat) now, if I divide it, the airstone from the Driftwood decoration creates alot of bubbles on the one side, probably too many bubbles as it takes up about 90%of the waters surface on that half.
I know bettas like to build bubble nests and like calm waters so would it be a better idea to turn that off, or try to adjust it so it does not create so many bubbles, or is it fine the way it is? My male that is in there now loves the bubbles, he constantly follows them around the surface (probably checking to see if they are food or not, as he has a one track mind).
I also have/had six ghost shrimp in the water (can only find three of them at the moment) do they need the water to be airated by the airstone or does the filter do enough of that for them?
Thanks!
