Betta attacking a snail

I just thought I would post this, not a question, but maybe some one might get a chuckle out of it. But today, my office betta (Turing, a Beautiful blue betta) was attacking one of the snails in his tank, he would flare up swim around a bit then go up to the snail open his mouth and (looks like) try to eat the snail, which is 2x the size his own mouth.

i have golf-ball sized mystery snails and my betta always tries to bite them. does a good job of it too.

well Turing is not doing a good job at bitting the snail, all he does is move the snail or knocking the snail off the glass, Turing makes the mistake of attacking the shell and not going for the meat.

yeah, mine goes for flesh. i love how she just freezes and stares for a bit before she attacks. fortunately the snails have it figured out and ignore her, her mouth isn't big enough to do any damage.

My office paradise fish spent a few days bugging the fish, but now contents himself to just spitting the food he doesn't like at them.

My female bettas are great snail hunters. They know exactly where to strike, they've bumped off quite a few of my baby ramshorn and pond snails. I find empty shells on the substrate all the time.

After watching my betta for a while Ive come to the conclusion that theyre not fish at all.

they're like. . . a hummingbird, mixed with a snake. . .that lives underwater.

I had 2 snails in my tank with a fish a while back(my first tank) and my fish (1 gold gourami) would push the snails( one at a time)to the surface of the water and put them under the current. The snails then flipped around and couldn't get out of the current very easily. I could see them struggling! I think my fish was trying to murder them and she did a good job too! I don't know if that's why they died but it was strange.
