the below piccie is of my betta's bubblenest he built last nite, If I take him and my female and put them in a small tank with shallow water will they breed? or do I have to keep them in the tank he allready started bubbleing in?

I know they need 6 inch or less water but thats about it.

I wouldn't try breeding them in that little bowl you've got. The males get so aggressive, you'll want some place for the girl to hide when she needs to get away. I've read that the smallest a beginner breeder should use is 10g. I tried it in a 2.5 and took my female out within half an hour because even though it is a planted tank, there wasn't enough room for her to swim and she kept bonking her head against the side glass! She's quite happy as queen of my 18g...

But yes, you'll want the bubble net established before you add the female. He can always build a new one.
 
Hmm, yeah, it seems like the first link is down. Wonder why, I saw it up just a couple of days ago.

Anyway, don't put them together. You'd need a much bigger tank and then you'd have to put the female and male seperated (divider, glass huricane thingy) and wait for her to become gravid.
 
but he still have the nest up and he refuses to eat! I dont know what to do... all the excess food is making the plants grow nicely but its worrying me, he looks hapy and fine, but I m still worried
