Betta dieing rapidly.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, Jspigs. Please, please don't beat yourself up over this. Accidents happen, we're human. You loved that little guy and gave him a good home and a good life.

He had so much more than most of those poor little Bettas in cups that wind up in a vase full of Ivy roots, or a brandy snifter, or tiny little bowl that is rarely cleaned.

I believe that Bettas do bond with their keeper. They are such intelligent and curious little things. I'm sure he felt happiness all of his days with you.

Please take comfort in knowing how much good you did for Fred, not the least being the final act of love and compassion in ending his suffering. That took so much courage, and self sacrifice.

I'm so sorry for your sad loss.

I don't think it could have been said any better.

I know how heartbreaking it is to have to euthanize a pet, fish or not. Its the hardest thing in the world to do. I want to commend you for your courage and compassion. Putting him down was the right thing to do.
And don't beat yourself up over the accident- we have all learned these terrible lessons. That's just what it was, an accident, and accidents happen. We all know you were trying to make his home healthier and happier for him. For a petstore beta, he coudn't have asked for a better parent.

I am so sorry for your loss. I also think you should go to the petstore and get another beta the first chance you get. Fred would want you to make sure there is one more beta out there who will have the care you are willing to provide.

Where can I get the clove oil you are referring to? And what is this method? Is the freezer inhumane?

One of my bettas is not doing well. Dang Petco.... Big Red, that's his name, is a blood red halfmoon. His tail is almost gone. But he'd been doing fine with that. But now he won't eat and is always on the bottom. Not normal at all for him. I've only had him about 6 months. How and when did I get so attached to a fish!?!?!?

What happened to his tail?

Not sure if it is time to euthanize just yet, but I have also used ice water, shocks them instantly, takes less then 2 seconds total.
