one more question.... right behind the two spong filter things there is open space, i was thinking and wondering if i can put some salt in there??????????? i haven't added any salt yet and just want my betta to be as healthy as possible

Salt's not necessary. The best thing for your betta is a regular water change schedule to give him the cleanest water possible. :idea:

i do weekly water changes and he is in a 5 gallon all alone so he should be verryy healthy since he is in a 5 gallon im going to do 1-2 gallon wc's weekly. 1 or 2 gallon WC's??

One gallon would be 20%, which would be fine. But two gallons (40%) would be better.
