I got it at wal-mart for about $50 with a heater and all the decorations...I thought that was a good deal
sorry, i know this is completely off topic, but will you be upgrading your tropical tank with angels aswell, they will need much more room to grow. you could have saved some hassle by upgrading your main tank and putting the betta in the empty 10 gallon. a bit late now i guess.
No one mentioned a lower pH. Bettas like soft water so add a piece of boiled driftwood and he will be as happy as ever.
If his condition doesn't get better, aquarium salt is good for bacterial infections like ick.
My male betta got ick once, it was due to the temperature being too low. cranking up the heat to 84, adding ick medication and aquarium salt got rid of it in a few days....so aquarium salt is good for that.

His old tank was 0.8 gallons, The tank he is in now is bigger (not sure how much bigger but bigger).

Nice tank, moved my betta a while back to a 5 gallon from a 1.5 gallon he is soo much happier now! Gl with your betta.
