We had a betta bout 3 days ago a female in a cup it was all tipsy falling over so I set her upright she didnt look so good though she looked like she was fading. I honestly dont see why we sell them at Walmart when they die get returned dead. I wouldnt buy a betta from my own store or any fish actually the new department manager doesnt know what he is doing.
When I worked at a chain pet store (the smart one) idiot customers used to come in and, if we were away from the aquatic station, grab a net and put inapproprite fish in the same tank to watch them fight.. or get eaten. That used to make me FURIOUS!
if these people were doing these types of things to another animal... say a dog or cat... people would be outraged and something would be done about it
but when its something like a fish.. nobody cares besides us...
yup , like i always said ... fishes are poor animals, and in fishes bettas are the poorest ... i still cant understand how someone can do this to one of the most beautiful and most SMART fishes outthere ...
Gosh, I would try this except they had tanks with ALL dead fish in them, so the cups are safer. I think maybe I will go there today and show them how to change the water in the cups and how to net out the dead fish. Maybe if we all could go to this store and show one employee how to do it, we could save some fish.
Two bettas in one cup? Unbelievable the stupidity and cruelty that some people display :angryfire:. On the other hand kudos to you for doing the right thing by putting each betta in their own cup :clap:. Did you speak to the manager about what you saw? Might be a good idea to let them know that what you saw was animal cruelty and shouldn't be happenning in their store. To put two male bettas together just to see them fight is like putting two Pit bulls together for a dog fight. Good for you for doing the right thing. I applaud you!!!! I have three male bettas all in their own tanks. I agree they are the most beautiful and intelligent fish I say to my hubby all the time it is like having three little dogs with fins LOL!!! Yeah I know am weird :screwy:but..... I just love my bettas.
