Is it possible? in mu sig I have all the fish we have. would it harm any of them?  :read: :read:

Alot of times gouramis and bettas will not get along. Plus some bettas are just tempermental and will go after anything. You can always give it a try, but I would do so when you have lots of time to observe, and have an immediate back up plan for the betta if it doesn't work :)

Weeeell, it's in a vase in the kitchen but I think it gets lonly...

It Is Possable. I have my betta in my community 25G tank.

The gouramis are the ones that may be problematic, but who knows. Last time I was at the local pet* store there was a male betta chillin out in a tank full of male fancy guppies, wiht no apparent problems. I would avoid any known fin-nippers though for the bettas sake.

I've got a male in with platies and corys at work, and my daughter has some with her male betta here at the house as well no issues.

Besides the Gourami problem, dont forget about water flow too. Male Betta cant swim right in a regular filtered tank... Too much water flow... They end up staying in one corner their whole lives to avoid the current.

Better to use females... My female lives with Rainbowfish and Clown Loaches in a big tank and she is far more beautiful then my male Betta... Purply-red-gold.

Actually, that's not quite true as many here will attest.

Many of us have bettas in regular filtered tanks (not overfiltered VROOM!, mind you) and our fish swim all over the place. Mine even likes to play in the outflow.
