Betta or honey gouramis?

Can't decide so I am gonna see what you guys would have
Bear in mind I have not kept either

I like both fish but i especially like the way gouramis swim.
But I like bettas too!

What tank are these going in? Other tank mates? I've got 4 honey gourami's in a 20 gallon and they are very happy. The males are very colorful too.

every1 i have has a nice personality they have all lived in my community with out a problem and there is 1 there right now heres a pic

I actually had pretty good luck with that. This method is by no means fail proof, especially since at the store they tend to look almost exactly the same but, females have a horizontal stripe across their bodies. Stressed males will also show this, which is why its not fail proof, but if you pick one with a prominent stripe there is a strong chance it will be female. Also, when trying for a male look for one that shows absolutely no sign of a stripe. If they are older they may be showing a blue throat, so you can look for that too. That's how I picked out my 2 females and 2 males. I also haven't had any aggression problems between any of them. Good luck!

Betta's may have "personality" but they will get hungry and go after the shrimp.

I love bettas! I have 3. They are so interactive. Im working on training them. I always thought that the bettas would eat the shrimp. If not I am so getting some shrimp!
