I recently removed three red eye tetras from my 5 gallon hex tank to add to the school that I have of them in my 40 gallon tank. I am only left with two platy's in the tank. Do you think that I would be able to add one of my bettas to the tank? I figured that I would be able to add it in there and monitor the fish behavior and as long as there was not much aggression shown that it would be ok.

Let me know what you think!

I am going tomorrow to get 7 cory's and 2 german blue ram's to finish off the stocking of my 40 gallon! Can't wait! My angels have been in for two days now and are finally starting to show themselves from behind the rocks. They are adorable! I will have pics this weekend.

Hi,

Platies get too big for a five gallon tank and you probably should return them or put them in your 40 gallon tank. If you do that, you could get a Betta, two ADFs, and some shrimp (if you get a nice betta). Or three Endler's Livebearer, and two ADFs.

Can't wait to see some pics (especially of the Cories:))!

Well, I started that 5 gallon tank as my first aquarium so I may have made a newbie mistake. But even two "dwarf" platies are going to outgrow that tank? They are not supposed to grow more than one inch long and are almost at that length now. Water parameters are excellent currently with weekly 25-30% water changes.
