OK, I let my oldest boy (15) have one of my old 5 gallon tanks for his room. He went and picked out a betta for the tank and is concerned because the new little guy doesn't seem to be acting "right?" He just goes to a corner and sits there. I'm thinking that the filter is causing too much current in the tank for the betta, but thought I would ask you guys about it. I told him to turn the filter off and just run it for an hour or two a day, do a water changed every couple of days and see if he starts to swim around a bit more. What are you're thought on this?

he justs needs to adjust and the filter not being is not a good thing if its drying out.... you'll send the tank through a whole new cycle if it does. stop the water changes to and just leave him be for a week or so and he'll be fine. my CT i got a few months ago would move when i got him and now hes a very active little feller. was he in a cup when u got him?

Ya, he was in a cup. I told him it's just a whole new world for him. I'll tell him just to let it run

thats probably why to hes not use to all the room and has to develop back some strength. mine would float up to the top when i first got him(lived in a 5g hex). i know it wasnt a swim bladder problem cause there wasnt any other symptoms. just leave him for a while and he'll get use to it and start acting normal eventually. im also going to get a new beta 2day and ill let ya know what he does when goes in to comparem 2 ur beta sitiation

I agree what type of filter is it? I have a whisper water fall filter and have it set on the lowest setting. The tank water temp should be between 78-80 degrees for bettas. I also agree don't turn the filter off. My betta Sammy took a few weeks to become comfortable in his 5g tank he was very shy he is now much more social. I change out his water every 2 weeks he is doing fine. Good luck with your betta.
