I feel sorry for my betta... it's inhabiting my 1gal. tank... I was wondering what would happen if I put him in my 29gal.? Will he fight with the other male fish?

It depends on what other fish you have in your larger tank. If you have community fish then usually adding a betta in with them isn't any trouble. Male bettas only battle with other male bettas and quite often other female bettas, but usually if other species leave them alone they will do the same. (At least in my experience). Bettas are solitary fish though, so if you can afford to get him his own little tank (even a small 2.5-5 gal), they are quite happy.

Hope this helped,
Diana

If your fish in your 29g are the ones you listed in your tiger barb lighting question, I would definately not put your betta in the 29g. Your gourami and tiger barbs will probably be the end of him.

yea i tryed it earlier. I took him out because the Tiger Barbs were practically attacking him! (all 6) the gouramis ignored him and the catfish loved him but I took him back to the 1gal. :)

I got my first and only betta (he's purple and his name is Ivan the Terrible) about a year ago when I got one of those plastic betta bowls with the hinged lid as a gift. Ivan never did much in there, and didn't eat much either.
About six months ago, I decided to put him in a ten gallon planted tank I have, where he has been living with four small congo tetras and a very small bushyhose pleco.
I certainly don't regret it. He's the happiest fish I have out of all my tanks. He will take a flake right out of my fingers, swims around all the time and looks like he'll go on forever. He even "trims" his own fins, which I thought was pretty weird until I saw another posting mentioning that this isn't abnormal behavior.
If anyone out there is considering liberating their betta from small surroundings, I would encourage it.

yeah I feel sorry for my little guy... but he seems sort of happy in my 1gal... he eats his fill and acts normal...
