No, unfortunately I don't have room for one, although when I was at Walmart today I saw a mom with her little girl buying a Betta death box literally 4 by 4 inches, and this time I was woman enough to speak up. I told her that I had bought a Betta for my little girl (true) and that I had gotten too small of a tank which caused the fish to die (not true, but better to say it this way) and was a total waste of money. I then pointed out a nice 2 and 3 gallon tank with filter and heater and explained to the little girl that he would be much happier and healthier in there. I told the mom she would still need to change the water though, etc. The mom actually listened and tahnked me for sharing.
So, you can have success sometimes talking others out of bad fish choices.

Woot! Awesome! I tried to talk someone out of keeping goldfish in a small tank today but they were really not into listening. It makes me sad to be in this hobby sometimes...but moments like these make it worth it..!

Good save.

My cousin bought one of those really small plastic Betta "tanks" in a variety store. There's not enough room for one Betta, let alone two, but nonetheless they are doing well. I went over to his house yesterday and their color was looking better. While I was over there I convinced my aunt to buy the 10g starter park, so yay!

Good deal!!!

That's great and even better than the mom had the sense to listen to you. I have 3 bettas in filtered, heated tanks and they love their homes. It makes a big difference in their overall health, happiness and survival.

Yay! I am proud you spoke up :)

sorry to say it, but i thought you were a dude :lipssealedsmilie:

yeah, i bought my betta one of those small containers, but i only use it for transportation. he has a nice tank with plenty of room. i think its cruel to not give animals enough room, and some people don't understand the needs of a fish too well. i am really glad you told that person that it needed a bigger tank. ignorance sometimes causes the most cruelties

That's awesome. I do this on a daily bases, there are times when people listen to you and other times, they just don't care. Being a fellow customer might have helped. Sometimes when I tell them something they just time I'm out to make more money for the store. I wish I got commission, but I do it for the good of the animals. Again good save!!!
