10 gallon tank, half full of water. Submersible heater set to 80ish. Hood, soft lights (nothing bright, I use a really low-wattage single screw-in bulb in my 10's. Just enough to let him see at night.) sponge filter barely running. For hiding spots for the female, I have 3 very large soft fake plants that I tie/clump together into a big mass that pretty well fills the 1/3rd of the tank in the corner the heater/filter are in.
Stick the female in a container and let the male into the tank (I use clear flower vases for the female) so they can see eachother but not get at eachother. Once you get the bubblenest/vertyical barring you're looking for, you can release her into the tank and carefully remove the container.
Once the spawning is over, remove the female immediately or she will be killed. Once the fry have become free-swimming (usually 3rd day or so) remove the male (He will likely eat them otherwise) make sure they have nice clean water with some form of mild medication to treat bite damage (melafix, bettazing, etc.)
Male and female will need their own seperate recovery tanks. Fry regardless of spawn size will be fine in that 10g for a few weeks. Additional grow-out tanks requires as per spawn size. The more you cna spread out hte fish the better, because the more crammed together they are the slower they'll grow. Can use anything from a bunch of 10's to a large grow-out.
