My ten gallon cycling( YES I KNOW THIS ONE IS ACTUALLY CYCLING) tank for my betta bacchus to swtich into is coming to a close. He doesnt really like other fish, when i tried to add some neon tetras to his puny 1.5 tank he went nuts.. corrected that quickly by getting rid of them and starting a ten gallon for him..(myabe it was just the fact that is was such a small tank) I figured his personality isnt really all that good for other fish, but i kind of want some ghost shrimp in the ten gallon as well, do you think that it would be okay to add them? I dont know much about Ghost shrimp but i will definitly learn as much as possible if anyone says its alright to do or has any information about them.

i think that an owly betta, as yours might be, is probably better living solitary, as he may pick on the shrimp and any other fish or invert you put in with him. you could use the 10 gallon for a small community tank and have your betta in a 5 gallon or so.

Well thank you! i would just prefer to give him his own ten gallon tank, hes the whole reason i got into this hobby in the first place so i think i will just let him b in his 10 gallon that he deserves, plus i dont have a 5 gal, the 10 was donated :)

that's what started me in this crazy hobby, hence the name, lol. that one lil betta..... it's all his fault.......hahahaha!

lol i had one little bowl with him in it, that turned into a 1.5 gallon tank... which led me to a 20 gal. and a 10 gal hahaha soon to be a saltwater tank :)! i think im gonna go to schoool for marine biology, nothing has interested me this much so far, and i love learning about anything that has to do with fish, and being a fresh graduate of highschool i might just try and get into the field :)

November of 2007, one betta and a half gallon bowl. today my kitchen has 2 55 gallon tanks in it, with cichlids in one and a planted community in the other. first serious hobby i've had since my mid teens.

He might do better with other fish in a larger tank. bettas are highly territorial. other than that, if he's not going to let you put anything else in, snails and/or shrimp should be just find. heavily planting it will help immensly as well.
