I recently set up a 10gallon betta tank and i was wondering if it is necessary to have light in the tank?
:1zhelp:

It's not necessary, per se unless you want to keep live plants in the tank.

Thanks

If you just have like a little lamp you could put over the tank the Betta would appreciate some light, but you don't have to get anything extra.

The betta won't neccessarily appreciate extra light if you have a light in your room and its not too dark or too bright (as in your fish can see properly), and if you have a heater to keep the water warm. Lamps are just extra effort (in a betta tank & if you don't have plants) IMO

Well I didn't mean extra light, but I was assuming that the room light wouldn't be on at a consistent basis so a lamp could be put on a timer to give the Betta a light and dark cycle if it's not already light enough.
