would it be possible to put a betta w/ either of these? ive got a fishless 25 that i would like to put a betta and 2 german blue rams. if not ive got a 55gal community w/ 2 d. gouramis.

Might work with the rams--rams tend to stay in the bottom half of the tank, while bettas spend a lot of time near the surface. The dwarf gouramie probably would not be good--both prefer the same areas of the tank and often fight.

From what I've seen, they tend to pick a territory that has good cover, like a large leafed plant, and then hang around there. I've seldom seen them spend much time in the top half of a tank. They feed from the water column, more like a tetra than a cory.

IME Rams explore the whole tank. As do bettas.
I have a male betta with some rams, and haven't had a problem, yet.
This male is quite mellow, so thats probably a contributing factor.
Its mostly trial and error and I would be hesitant to try it, but gouramis are a definite no with bettas.

im not worried about the betta attacking anyone more vise versa. ive found that you can train a betta to be less aggressive by dropping him in a tank full of zebras and neons for a while. if hes really aggressive the fishes company will **** him off but they will not fight and he will not be able to catch them. so eventually he gives up on fighting.
