I have a female betta in my 20 long planted tank with 5 whiteclouds and some mystery snails. She has started fixating on one corner of the tank. She swims back and forth, up and down all the time. She will come over and eat but immediately goes back to that corner. Sometimes she has stress stripes and sometimes she has breeding stripes. Her ovipositor is protruding a little and she is a little fat. I put a piece of cardboard in that corner thinking she was stressed by something outside the tank or seeing her reflection. She still does it! Any ideas? Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 40.

How long has the tank been up? This isnt unusual for a Betta to act in this kind of manner. My male betta did the same thing tho he saw his own reflection on my tank window and he thought that it was another male betta and started to fight with his own reflection. Bettas arent the most clever fish so they think there is another betta in there with them when they see the reflection. That could be the problem. Do you have any other bettas in there with her?

No, just the whiteclouds and she doesn't even seem to notice them.

Sounds like a normal betta to me. They're screwy fish. :screwy:
