Betta won't eat!

I've had my male betta in a 29 gallon aquarium for about 8 months. Recently, he started swimming on his side and he looked a littl ebloated in the anal area. I put him in a one gallon filtered aquarium and started treating him with Maracyin 2. It's been 6 days on Maracyn 2, and he hasn't eaten in about 8 days. He doesn't look like he has a disease, he looks healthy other than the little lump ion the anal area. So, I'm thinking he may be constipated.

So, I have a dwarf grass in his tank in which if he eats it, will aid in the constipation. I also put a pea in the tank as well.

But he won't eat, he looks completely disinterested in his food. I've tried his favorite, frozen bloodworms. I've tried plankton, live bait such as water fleas, brine shrimp... he still won't eat!

Can anyone try to assess what is wrong with my baby???!

Thanks!

well, if he won't even eat the peas or anything else, you could try putting epsom salts in the water. i've heard of that working for constipation before with fish. or you could just wait it out. sometimes constipation just clears up on it's own after a while.

I've heard of the epsom salt treatment, but I also heard it was very stressful on the fish?

How can I be sure it's constipation?

I thought it was dropsy, but he displays no signs or symptoms. I thought it was swim bladder, but again, the only signs are a "pellet sized" lump in his anal area and refusing to eat. I'm keeping him on the Maracyn 2 for an additional 5 days just to be sure. But he's not getting any worse and he looks great other than the eating situation!

i treated my betta that was constipated with peas,it worked fine for me,although he took one bite and stopped, but it worked.
