So a long while back I picked up the loser between two bettas that had been thrown in the same cup. I put him in a 2.5 gal with a yellow canniculata snail. He largely ignored the snail in the 2.5. Admittedly, the lighting was subdued at best. Now, his fins are healed and he lives in a five hex with the snail.
And now he refuses to leave the snail alone! He flares around it, he bites it, he generally tries to bother it as much as possible. I don't think he's caused any damage to the snail. It just continues to climb along the side of the tank.

Will the betta tucker himself out? Or do I have to separate these supposedly bosom buddies?

I third that motion :)

Stress is good for noone or nothing

Have to agree too. Some bettas are more passive about this, yours isn't. I'd move the snail out.

I moved his happy butt to the ten and switched the blue betta in there.
Everything's all good now :D

Good call! :)
