I am keeping 4 female bettas in a 10 gallon tank tank. During the first couple of days, they were fighting and going at it. Then they had gotten used to each other and only glared a little at each other but didn't give chase. Unfortunately, my bettas have now seem to get stuck in an equilibrium where they constantly just hide or rest. The largest one hides behind the filter and the small one among the plastic plants. The other two don't hide all the time but they do like to rest and hide occassionally as well, so my tank seems very boring at times. Are the bettas just bored? I've been thinking of ways I might try to get them to be more energetic like throw in a snail or some shrimp..

My male just lays on stuff most of the time.
Half the time he's stuck to the filter intake (by choice).

He does have a bubble curtain though that he swims in a lot.

If I walk over to the tank he gets extremely active and flares up until he gets food, but otherwise he just floats and lays around mostly.

I have had many bettas over the years...and that is just what they kinda do...I created a divided 5 gallon tank for 2 males, and they tend to stay more active, flaring several times a day....still, they are fairly low key for the vast majority of the time. Keeping them at a temp of about 78 will keep them more active overall. And mine always come to the front of the tank when I go into my office (where my betta tank is).

MPQ I've never thought of that. It's probably true when you really think about it.
