I already know what I need to about hem as I have 6 males But I have a question. I am htinking on getting a couple females to put in my 20 gallon high community tank. They would be with cherry barbs and cories. I figure and hear these are good tankmates. Anyways I am thinking on buying one of those things you hang on the side of the tank like a breeders thing. Im thinking on putting a male in it and then after he is ready I would put the female in it with him and let them do there thing and then take her out and whent he eggs hatch I will take out the male. I figure this would be a good idea instead of trying to breed them in a littl tank. Then when the babies get to a good age I would jar them. What do you betta breeders think? Like I said Im just thinking on it. Im not sure what Im gonna do yet. Thanx for nay replies.

Sorry. Bad idea.

The problem I see with the male in a box on the side of the tank is that he'll jump out of the box into the main tank. If the females aren't ready, he'll beat them up. You are better off setting up a separate tank for the male.

Before you plunge into any breeding of bettas, make sure you thoroughly research it. You could end up with far more betta fry than you are prepared to deal with....

First, Actually I will have a lid on it that I make or Ive even seen some fo those breeders boxes in stores that come with a lid.
Second I have already researched breeding bettas before and I know pretty much all I need to know. I would be keeping the best out of the bunch of fry and rest I will give or sell to differnet people.

Not to rag on you or anything but being 46, I still learn something new everyday about something. Anyway, good luck on your breeding attempt.

Hey, to get them in mood, play a little 'Enigma' music for them. That should do the trick. :D

Oh I dont care if ya rat on me cause I learn new things all the time too. I have learned alot on betta breeding but I guess after I would breed them I will learn more. After looking back at that post I looks like I was trying to be a smart elic which I wasn't trying to be. Sorry about that. Oh ill try the music thing:D
