I purchased a bi color angelfish about a week ago, and up until yesterday he seemed to be doing great. He was eating well (spirulina and mysid shrimp) and was getting along well with my other fish (potter's angel, clown fish.) However, starting yesterday he seemed to be less active, and started spending most of his time hiding in the live rock while not moving much. He came out and ate this morning, but immediately went back to his little cave, where again he is just sitting there while not moving much at all. Is this normal or do I have a sick fish on my hands? As for my water parameters, everything looks great except my ph seems to be a bit low (8.0-8.1.) Any advice would be appreciated.

Any aggression between the angels? They are different enough that they should be okay, but that would be the first obvious thing to determine.

not at all. They were all getting along perfectly. I never saw any aggression between any of the fishes, which is why I'm confused. If anything, the bi color was slightly aggressive towards the potters when I fed them. For a moment I thought that perhaps it was because my ph was a bit low, but I don't really think that has anything to do with it.

no color changes at all--he looks great. He has been hiding for about a day now. What concerns me the most is that he barely moves when he's hiding.

I'd give it another day or so. Bicolors tend to fade quickly when they are unhappy, and as long as he's eating, I wouldn't worry much. Mine will occassionally just pout--nothing changed, nothing new, he just gets mad and hangs out behind the rockwork. A few days later, he's back to cruising the front.

okay thanks! I wonder if something happend with him and another fish while I wasn't around? Like I said, up until now he was doing great---when I first got him he immediately got to know the tank well, and was even eating within 3-4 hours, which I couldn't believe. But, suddenly he's been hiding in a little nook in the back of the live rock, which seemed odd to me.
