Bichir Food?

I have a baby 4" bichir, and yesterday I threw some peeled shrimp and he ate it like mad. Today, I will try raw fish.

I also feed him tubifex worms, earthworms and feeder guppies.

Shrimp was the first food my bichirs would take by hand.

I feed mine a staple of Shrimp Pellets with an occasional Shrimp, Night Crawlers, Krill, Chicken Liver and on rare occasion a minnow / feeder. (if using a feeder be sure to quarantine the feeders for around a month).

My little guy eats plankton, bloodworms, and sinking wafers.

why no land based meats... mine eat beef heart and its there fav.

Generally, beef heart is OK. The problem with land based meats is they have the wrong fatrotein ratio.

I brought some shrimp home last night. 2 just to try it and they went nuts over it. I posted this questions on aquatic predators as well and I was told chicken livers and gizzards are ok as long as the fat is trimmed off. I may try a little of this tonight. Not going to do it often though. Thanks for all the tips.
