I've had this Bichir for over eleven years. I'm wondering just how long they can live. I've read somewhere that they can live longer than humans, but I don't think that's been proven. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure many keep Bichirs but you may be better asking in a different forum..
don't believe they are Cichlids.

The average is about 15-20 years in captivity. I heard of some living over 30 years, but not too many.

If mine can live up to 30 years, then he will outlive me. I'm 43 now, and he's eleven, so he can live another nineteen years or more. Thanks

The lifespan really depends on the conditions you give your fish.:) LOL..It's funny how I think sometimes some of my fish may eventually outlive me.:D

Great thread thanks for asking. I cant wait to see how long mine live.
