big clean fish

What do you consider messy? And what do you consider big? Bala sharks can reach close to a foot. Myabe a cichlid would be good. But they move the gravel in the tank if thats what you consider messy.

How big of a tank do yoou have? if you have soemthing really big you might consider an arrowana. Of all the big fish, they are one of the more active. But beware, they can get to be 3 feet. How big is big to you?

minimal cleaning in my arowana tank. knife fish should be too since these fish are long but not as bulky.

most cichlids are messy eaters. how bout some siler dollars or some of the big tinfoil barbs. what kinda fish do you want?

you could stick a "electric blue lobster" in there, they grow to be about 8inches max. and eat whats left over, but if they dont get enough food then they will start eating tankmates, so make sure they are well fed. silver dollars are another, they are clean fish, and are really cool to watch.

Cichlids? Do some research before you purchase any fish though and I could be wrong because cichlids can be territorial over limited space in a small aquarium and if you push it to the limit, then you will probably see some serious fights break out over the limited space. Some cichlids are peaceful such as angel fish and oscars are peaceful when young but will quickly out grow your tank as they can reach 11 inches and they are messy fish. In my opinion, I would keep African Cichlids in a tank no smaller than 55 gallons.

yes research is always a good thing also, just type in the name of the fish and put freshwater and it should come up with some pages, just try different searches and see what happens.

Research is most definately the key. Don't just look at how big the fish is now, look at how big it will get. I saw some Pacu the other day that were just barely bigger then a quarter. Full grown these things get well over a foot in length!!
