or at least a big day in theory.
i want to create a new stand for my 50g. the one i have now is homemade (and lovely!) but not exactly level. i worry every day about something bad happening to my tank, esp. since i keep adding more and more weight to it with wood and rocks.
thinking about doing a cinderblock and plywood thing with some of that thick foam to improve the level-ness of the tank (50g, 48x18). it doesn't help that the house i'm living in now is turn of the century (the 1900 one, not this one) and the wood floors ain't so great as far as being flat.
4 blocks high, one set of blocks for each corner and two sets to hold up the center, topped with plywood and then foam, then the tank.
since the tank has to be drained anyway to be moved, i'm going to be re-substrating, mixing in some nice new sand with the gravel and rocks. definitely want it to look more natural. i guess i'll have to catch all (most?) of the pesky fish while this is going on. they're going to hate me. back into the buckets!
oops, this turned into more of a blog. .. ummm. . . anyone have any suggestions? pics of cinderblock setups? anyone want to come over and help since i hate lifting cinderblocks. i always imagine that they have spiders hiding in them. (and yes, i know i have to add dechlorinator when i refill the tank!)
