Ok, I just need a little advice.

1) What is the smallest tank that I could fit 2 Oscars in?
2) " " " " " " " " " an Oscar and a Jack Dempsey in?
3) Would it be possible/wise to have 2 Oscars and 2 JD in a tank as small as a 75?
4) What tank specs would I need for this tank: 2 Oscars, 4 Jack Dempseys, 1 Pleco?
5) What can I do to involve a JD and an Oscar in a 75 gallon tank?
Obviously I really like Oscars and JD, and am trying to incorperate them in a 75 gal tank. I was thinking about getting 2 Oscars, and 1 JD, but thought the Oscars would terrorize the JD. Any help would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated. Too many fish in that tank. ONE oscar and ONE JD would maybe be stretching it due to aggression reasons. Two oscars would DEFINITELY be stretching it.

Sorry for the harsh info, but these fish just grow TOO large and are TOO aggressive to have a lot in. I would suggest ONE Oscar in the 75 gallon tank and let that oscar be the HAPPIEST oscar in the world. Quality, not quantity. The one oscar will develop a better relationship with you, will recognize you and interact with you better if it is alone.

ya know, I respect oddball~'s advice, but if either money is a concern or if you just want to watch some very exciting discovery channel stuff in your home, there is an alternative...
From my experience, you could put an Oscar and a JD in a 20 and they'll be fine (so long as you don't put two JD's that start spawning, ;) good times). However, if you want them to be a little more peacefull and grow bigger, put them in a 50 or even the 75 if you have the money and you can have a nice setup with a few JD's (providing they have enough territories, aka caves, on one side of the tank, which is simple) and two Oscars comfortably. Just make sure that you buy small Oscars (like $5 a pop) and small JD's all together so they grow up comfortable with eachother.

Where could I purchase a tank/filter for a 150-200 gallon tank and etc online to better suit these fish? My local petstores onlt go up to 75, but I would really like a much bigger tank.

Well I have a local LFS that is selling VERY small JD's, so I was planning on buying 2, and I just bought a tiger Oscar, and was planning on buying an albino oscar, and letting the juveniles in the 75 gallon get used to eachother, and provide plenty of shelter and caves, keeping them well fed. After a year or so I was going to move them to a bigger aquarium if the 75 did not work out.

your kidding, right? a 75 with 2 oscars and a few dempseys????? :thud:

Err, you might. That would be more ideal, but I would suggest lowering the JD # down to like 2-3.
