Between the plants and the filter that has some good bacteria on in it he should be fine with some water changes. I would keep an eye on Ammonia and Nitrite. If you want to be on the safe side you could find some BioSpear (never have used it but I hear a lot of good things on it).
I would do daily checks of the water, looking for a mini cycle and giving your tank 4-6 weeks before adding any other fish to let your tank mature to a good point.
