BIO-Spira?

Has anyone actually used this product from MarieLand Labs? If you have, does it actually work? Or has anyone heard anything about it?

I recently used Bio-spira in a 5-gallon tank. I needed to set it up quickly as my two plays are pregnant and I wanted somewhere to put them so the fry wouldn't get eaten by my other fish. I can't believe how well it worked. I put the fish (2) in about ten days ago along with most of the bag of bio-spira (as instructed by my local lfs), and continued to test the water every day. So far, 0-ppm ammonia and 0-ppm nitrite. Water is crystal clear. I'm by no means an expert, but so far I've had a very good experience with this product and it seems to be doing exactly what the manufacturer indicates it will do.

i have ordered this on the strength of the opinions on this forum
if you do a search at the top for biospira there are loads of info

i am in the uk and have found a site that will ship to me and am really hoping it will save me the arduos task of a now fishless tank as my fish died due to whitespot probably bought about by the cycling in the first place

Yes, it does work. There may be transient detectable ammonia or more likely nitrite the first day or two, but after that it should be fine.

Shipments have started back up, availability should be good again soon.

I actualy talked to marinelands cheif science officer the other day regarding this product... Turns out it is the ony one of the "Quick cycle" products that actualy contains the bacteria that are responsible for the nitrification in aquaria... others such as cycle do contain nitrifying bacteria, but it is the kind that performes this process in soil, not water... so it does nothing in your tank, and you just wasted some more money...go figure!

I have used this product 3 times in emergency situations and it is the real thing folks! I highly recommend using it. It does what it says it will do, and has saved my fish more than once when I screwed up the biological filter. I also recommend getting it from Bernie at The Fish Store. He sells tons of the stuff and is very intent on doing everything possible to send you a batch of live bacteria!
