Bio wheel filter accidently left off last night

I think you're fine. I've lost power to mine for 7-8 hours, and never had a problem. Remember, there is still plenty of beneficial bacteria in the substrate, on the decorations, etc. As said above, check the params regularely and do extra water changes if necessary.

It is also quite likely the the submerged parts still hold BB, watch your params but don't scrub the filter, it was only a night, I move filters by keeping them wet for hours without forcing o2.. I would use caution but not go overboard..

What I meant was dont clean the bio wheel or the cartridge, but anaerobic bacteria is typically your enemy.... If it smells like rotten eggs, then I would clean it...seriously..

agreed.

unless the bacterial population was already under stress (such as an overloaded tank where there was already ammonia or nitrite present) you don't have much to worry about.

overnight is not a big deal for an otherwise healthy tank.

as mentioned, there are plenty of nitrifiers in the gravel to take over the load while the population on the biowheel recovers.
