How difficult would it be to attach a biowheel to a box filter that was not designed to use one? LFS sells replacement wheels for a reasonable price and I would like the extra bio-filtration. Thanks.

shouldn't be too difficult depending on how the outlet is designed and how good you can engineer things. A few pieces of plastic glued to the housing to brace the filter mount and a strategic location and you're in business. Kyle

I would probaly be adding it to the Aquaclear 150, but I also have a Whisper 5-15 on the tank. I am pretty decent at fabrication, but I don't want to buy the biowheel if you don't think it'd fit (IE the water would hit it when it was mounted).

it will work but im imagining your going to put it out right in front where the water comes out? unless you put it under the water outlet its going to cause splattering because the wheel is going to spin backwards you can make a shield for it i guess. i would just try to find some biopore catridges for it. they stopped making them for some reason but they still come in cube forms that you can put inside the filter. that stuff will hold tons of bio.

Not locally available. LFS has the wheels but not the filters themselves... Hmmm...

I can attest to this. I just bought a penguin 125 for my Guppy tank and although I wasn't sure if I really wanted the bio wheel on this tank, I tried it to see how it did. it puts water on top of my glass top and on the back of my light. I may still use it after I build a sheild, but it is a concern. The Emp's dont have this problem with the spray bar, but then you're getting way bigger, and more money than an ac 150.
