Bioball replacement?

Hi! I am just getting into Saltwater aquariums and have purchased a Coralife Biocube 32. I plan on doing fish and coral. I seems that bioball, which it comes with, are looked down on. So my question is, what is a good mechanical filtration replacement/alternative?

BIO balls are not really Looked Down Upon, They are fine to use (IMO).
In most SW tanks, the LR is enough for the BIO part--with enough flow.
