biospira question

I set up a five gallon tank today and have the small container of Biospira to use on it. Question: Can I use half of the package now and refridgerate the rest of the package until later this week when I get my ten gallon set up, too? Or should I just not open the package until I have both tanks ready, and then add half to both? Does the contents of the package expire quickly after opening? I could swear I read somewhere it will keep, but now I can't find that info anywhere again.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Q: Does BIO-Spira® need to be refrigerated?
A: BIO-Spira® is an active bacteria culture. Refrigeration provides the optimal long-term storage. If BIO-Spira® is left out of the refrigerator at room-temperature, it will still perform at optimal conditions. However, it is best to return BIO-Spira® to refrigeration when possible. Use the following as a guide:
a. Long Term Storage (1 year): 50°F (10°C)
b. Mid Term Storage (6 months): 39°F-87°F (4°C-31°C)

The Biospira pack has been refridgerated and is still unopened. I bought it today at the lfs, out of their fridge, and home into my fridge. The question is whether I can open it, use half, and safely store the remainder until the other tank is set up or if it will go bad in a certain time frame after opening it.

Stored in this method it should last a couple of months at minimum.

Yes, but make sure to seal it tightly and refrigerate after using it on the first tank.

Make sure that the Bio Spira (or bacteria) doesn't actually freeze. In which case the bacteria will die.
