I am in the market for a bird cage... rather a new one for a cockatiel. I need it to be at most, 20 x 20 but no less than 17 inches width or length. I have looked on ebay, cages by design, birdcage dot com and all those but am just not satisfied with the prices. I am looking for the cage to have one of those seed catchers which shouldnt be included with the length and width, I understand this will make the cage seem bigger. I don't necessarily need a stand to be with it, actually I would rather it not. I want one that's got a sturdy enough door to it, not just a pop close one... I guess one with a latch is what I am looking for. Here is a sample of what I am looking for.... anyone have any good places that I should go to which is cheaper than most?

Craigslist?

I have a large cage ready to go for a flock of finches. I got it for $20 and it's easily a $100 cage.

I was going to suggest craigslist too!!

oh man! I had one very similar when I lived in Idaho for my cockateil. I hope you find what you are looking for. They are such great birds. Mine knew so many songs and words...

I wish I knew the secrets of craigslist... I suppose I could check it out but it's so intimidating with all the state links and stuff....

if you select your state and then region/area it should narrow it down for you.

Check out the Pets group under community (upper left). I see quite a few birds & cages. You'll need to weed through the dog & cat posts.

Noodles, this guy came from a couple who had him for a few months and then decided they couldn't deal with his mess.... he's a good bird though. Is finger trained, loves to be with people and loves to be in front of the mirror... he does his best whistling to that mirror bird.... but he does not let you pet him.... I wish he would and I guess it will take work.. I just remember my old tiel couldn't get enough of that head scratching... I guess with work, hopefully he will come around...

why people find this house as the pet drop-off is beyond me

I have always heard that having a mirror in the cage makes then mean/aggressive cause they think it is a mate and become protective and anti social. I put a fuzzy buddy in the cage with my guy once and I could not get near him! I finally had to take it out. I miss my little Pete, but he is in a good home...Too hard to take a bird cross country!
