Where the ducks walk on the fish, PA
I would say no more than six, but doing that many depends on your filtration, and your ability to house them inside during the winter if they cannot winter in the tank.

Are you thinking commons, comets, fantails, or shubunkins, or a mix? The commons and the comets need a bit more space, I personally would do three fantails and three shubs, lol.

I am sure that Kashta, Lupin and Flaringshutter will chime in at some point too :D

I wish I could move my pond inside for the winter, then I could get more fish, lol.

I have no idea! I have never had cold water fish. We are getting 2 of those troughs. One for a pond and one for inside for the winters- it will be hard not to leave it basically empty for them. I figure he can use it for bait minnows to keep the filter seeded until I need it.

You could also keep something in the outside pond to hold biological bacteria, to later transfer the indoor pond to seed it. I made a prefilter for my pond with a plastic shoebox from the dollar store, put some gravel in the bottom of it, and a big automotive sponge. The pump is inside the box (holes drilled in it.)

I have an old swimming pool filter that I figure I will use some how. It was for an above ground swimming pool we used to have that was 4'X20' diameter. I think it should be plenty for the pond. I don't know, may be too much. I will have to wait and see. A prefilter is a good idea though, then I could just move it.
