hmm, i have a female betta. she was in a 18g community with another betta and some larger fishes. i noticed that she seemed to have 2 bites or something that looked like that. When that didnt appear to clear up or worsen, i took her out and put her into her own 32oz container.
i added some melafix, but that hasnt helped at all. i added some antifungal stuff to see if that helped at all, but that hasnt either. it is water out of our tap,; i cant give you exact paramaters because i havent had a chance to pick up more testing materials.
her scales also appear a bit raised, but not like dropsy.
the 'sore' was just white, but, it had turned almost pink or red inside of it, and, now, the redness is going away.

i dont think thats a bite but it still looks pretty serious! maybe after the paraguard use some melafix that stuff works wonders
