Hey guys, I recently purchased another tank from the local classifeds and one of the plants is covered in black algae. Whats the best way to get rid of it and will it spread if I put the plant in my 75g?

There are a few algae ID guides but HERE it one, try to see which one looks most like yours. It is most likely black brush algae but could be Blue/green algae as it can appear to be black as well. Sometimes even brown algaes can look black to us too. No matter which kind it is it can spread if you add to to your tank.

If you can't manually clean the (I assume plastic) plant, toss it. Fuzzy, black-beard algae usually comes up from improper lighting.
