Black beard algea

In my 38g, I have two diy co2 bottles connected to the powerhead. I have a lot of Co2 coming out from it and I have the powerhead on a timer to turn on during the lights are on and then turn off when the lights turn off. Even though there is still co2 coming it's straight up and not being distributed as much.

I also like this idea, all i need is a timer then.

Cant see how the airator could cause fluctuations as it is one of the only constants in the tank, everything else changes.

If i stopped the co2 all together would it nock back the bba
 
I've had very good results using excel following the instruction dosage on the bottle. Its not going to be a quick fix but they will slowly die off.
 
I run DIY co2 (2 2-liter coke bottles) with a 20oz coke bottle bubble counter, tubed into the intake on a h.o.t. magnum filter. 40g tank- I put a T in the tubing so I could just uncap the T at night and let the Co2 out, but so far I haven't had to do so, the fish are fine.
 
just to check , i cant get flourish where i am so is flora pride from tetra a good sub.

The up front cost is higher. but the cost per use is way, way down.

For example: Excel Flourish here runs about $10 for 500 ml; the noted product above one reduced down to 1.5% costs less than $2.00 per liter.

And I have found in my 20 gallon long It is effective at reducing Black beard algae in my tank. I'm still working on it too. But I need to set up some CO2 as of no I do not have that element.

Glutaraldehyde Dosing
From the bottle of glut that is shipped:
Dilute with water 93 Oz. water to 1 Oz. Glut.
Remove 4 Cups 3 Oz of distilled water from fresh gallon and add 1 One Glut.


From the diluted glute:
On initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 5 mL for every 10 gallons. Thereafter use 5 mL for every 50 gallons daily or every other day. Dosing may be slowly increased in high-growth aquariums.


If you are trouble shoot that algae; turn off all circulation and air pumps. and with a syringe shoot the dose directly at the algae trouble spots.
You can go up to 4x the normal dosage above to acheive the direct shot approach.
