Black Convicts Breading Question

Hey all,

My black convicts have a 100 or more fry and I want to ensure the best survival rate. Should I leave them in my 90 G tank with male and female to guard or do I setup another hospital tank to raise them?

I have another male black convict, 3 parrot (which have also laid eggs (I know they will not hatch)) 1 rope fish, 1 angel, 1 tiger barb, 2 bala sharks, 1 blue gourami, 1 pleco.

Just keep an eye on them if the parents aren't eating them then you will have the best survival rate. The best thing you can do is leave the parents and fry together as the parents feed them while they are very young. I did an experiment with my fry a while back. I took about half the fry and put them in a tank by themselves while the other half stayed with the parents. I found that most of the fry by themselves died and didn't grow to much while the fry with the parents grew rapidly and survived.

No no need to move them, especially if they have a good defensible position. My convicts do a very good job of guarding their young, too good as I now have many (too many) of the things. I tried removing all the females into a tank at my wife's school but it seems that I missed one cause I have yet another batch of fry swimming around mom and dad *sigh*.

They are un to watch as mom or dad will actually take them into their mouth and move them to different areas at certain times
