Black emperors

My melon barbs decided they weren't going to play nice with my other fish, so the person I got them from took them back.
This left an opening in the 55 for another upper level fish and my husband didn't want more cories.

We had a choice of these or perhaps dadio, but my husband liked these better, and I have no regrets these are very niiiice tetras, huge too.

I've never kept melon barbs, I'm sorry they turned into...let's just call them monsterish on a family board...or nippy? Both are nicer terms than I think you mean...

I've kept emperors, they're kind of biggish but mellow tetras, IME, but it's been a very long time since I've had them...good luck NC on these new fish...I think there are "newer" emperors, a color variety or different species? I'm clueless...

I'm bummed about the melons, they were truly awesome fish, but legit were making it a game to hunt the other fish in packs on sight. And no room to put them in my other larger tank without them doing the same, and husband says no more tanks... so.

Perhaps I can try again in the future once we have more room.

As for these tetras, theyre the black variety of the traditional emperor, Nematobrycon palmeri. A little sparring here and there so far from the males, but seems mostly all bluffs. Got a group of 9. Ordered 10 but lost one. Also fedex was very late with them too. But at least mostly okay.
