Does Rena sell black versions of the blue intake tubes and strainers? If not does anyone know of a good substitute? That bright blue can get annoying.

Man I hear you!!! I've tried a few different things but have been using 3/4" black vinyl tubing slit down the length to cover the blue. I've been looking at Magnum/Penguin intake online but can't seem to think of it when I'm at the lfs or they don't have them when I'm there.
Please post if you find something.

Will do. I almost got a black insulating sleeve for hot water pipes but the box they came in said they were fire retardant. I figure that meant not good for fish. Your idea sounds a lot better.

Somebody did this with adding driftwood to the back wall of their tank. So I was thinking of an adaptation. Get a short piece of driftwood (straighter kind). Saw it in 1/2 so there is 1 flat side. Whittle (or whatever) out a nice half-circle for your tubing. Drill holes on the edges and insert pegs with epoxy. Stick on black suction cups. 'Plant' java ferns on wood and stick it over the intake tube. The light grate at the bottom would still be sticking out, though. I dunno.

I would love to do something like this, however, it sounds like it would take more time and skill than I have at my disposal.

No problems so far.
You just need to let it cure so all the fumes dissipate.
I've read other posts where people use it on DIY pvc tubes as well. I was worried too, but finally tried it about 4 months ago. So far I've seen no peeling, flaking, or other damage from fish either. Pretty tuff stuff if done correctly it seems.

The MSDS link did not work for me.
It may very well be toxic. That's what I was scared of before I did it.
I read some posts of others doing it will no ill effects, so finally tried it.
I don't know if it's potable after curing or not.
Again, no problems so far. It may be leeching bad stuff into the water for all I know, but my tests don't show anything abnormal, and my fish are as happy and healthy as ever.

As another option, you might look at irrigation piping at Lowes / Home depot.
I think most of that stuff threads together and is either black or dark gray.
Probably more expensive than PVC, but maybe worth it in the long run.

As for "Make it Stone" I'll have to wait for someone else to try it. The Fusion was hard enough for me to try. I'm not really the guinea pig type.
