Black ghost knife fish

I was baadd.

Well, I did it. I broke down and got a black ghost knife!!! Just a little guy.
But, ha he moved in! He's been all over the aquarium inspecting.

(The large tank is on order, and will take the time to cycle, but I was as sured I could house 'Ghostie' in my 25 gallon for a few weeks. Although I fear he will make toast of the 2 baby platys)

The LFS salesperson told me an interesting story about Ghost knife fish, and how in some towns in Russia, where the water quality can be unreliable, they add ghost knives to the water and watch and when they see the ghost knives start to die off, they know that the water supply is questionable.

I just read that all commercially available BGK fish are harvested from the wild.
None are bred by fish farmers, even if providing the most ideal habitat, they are difficult to breed, although Australia has reported success. Just an intresting note.

You guys are making me drool lol.... ;)
I've seen BGK's at my lfs and the are really cool!! You'll love 'em Swimfins!
I have a 10g and I can't get a BGK.... :sad
I can't have another tank either.... :(

Hee hee, good luck Swimfins!
;)
