are these ok in a 55 gallon tank and do they require anything special.

55 gallon is too small for the BGK for its whole life, but in the meantime, the only big thing is to make sure it has good hiding spots like a piece of pvc pipe.

you need a 4ft by 2ft by 2ft minimum presuming your doing weekly 50% wc's
really you need a 5ft by 2 by 2 as they get 24" long and they need 2ft to turn round if gets to fully grown at 24 inches

oh. crap. i guess i cant get one of those then.

some knife fish grow to 30" i have a clown knife, u can see his head in my little picture. i made a cave from a 3.5" pvc T fitting. they are nocturnal, thats why a cave is key. They get big fast and resist stunting a 55 gal is a minimum....

also what type of fish is in ur avatar thing?

its a dragon goby

I think a 55 would be fine for a good while. I have a BGK in a 125 and he's really interesting. I have a hallow log decoration he pretty much stays in all the time. My girlfriend just bought a "ghost house" so hopefully he'll start hanging out in there.

You'll have to feed him Bloodworms, beef heart, etc. He won't take flakes. Well, most likely won't.
