Black gravel that floats!

Don't buy products of Este's. They make aquarium gravel and sand. I bought a bag of black gravel today. Small bag and half the gravel floats. You have to poke the gravel for them to sink. Horrible! Just a warning for those planning on buying gravel from them.
 
it will sink. don't worry.

estes is the best.

but the gravel is porous and what you are seeing is trapped air that causes the gravel to float when it hits the water..

in a day or so it should be down to the bottom.

Sorry for the "weird" post, that's not helpful of me, I got sidetracked:)

But I completely agree with the above, which was what I was going to say but forgot:wall:
 
just poke it all.... just get something and push it all down at once and it will go down,even if it floats back up just wait a little while
 
I have had other brands do the same thing.... they all eventually go down.
 
Is porous gravel better because it can house more beneficial bacteria?
