I have some algae growing on one type of my plants (cant think of the name) that looks like black hairs. It seems be be killing my plants, and is the only obvious algae in my tank. What can I do to kill the algae and rejuv my plants?

Its probably Black Hair Algae. (You were right on :p: )

You can buy an algae eating fish/snail/shrimp that might eat it, or remove it by hand.

I had some of these algaes on my anubias nana on the begining of forming of my 400L aquarium . I think that unbalanced aquarium caused this algaes to show up and grow on plants. Than I read this forum and find out that the best way to fight against them is to change like 20% of water and get SEA(seamese algae eater) . I took 2 and after that 1 more SAE and few weeks after that I dont have any signle black hair algae in my aquarium!

I hope this helps :)

how bad is the outbreak? if its everywhere you might want to consider doing a blackout of your tank. Read some threads on here about blackouts.

what kind of lighting is over your tank, how much. and what are you using for nutrients?
